Pro Pickleball Tip
Problem: Admiring Your Shot on the Service Return
Why it's a problem: Watching your service return can leave you open and vulnerable to a surprise attack from your opponent. If you miss the return, it's a free point for the serving side.
Solution: Move Immediately to the Non-Volley Zone
- Improved positioning: Getting to the non-volley zone quickly gives you a better vantage point to see the ball and react.
- Disrupts opponent's rhythm: Your opponent may expect you to stay in place, so a sudden move can throw them off.
- Maintains control: Staying in motion helps you stay focused and in control of the point.
Remember: The key is to keep moving and be ready for anything. Don't let the satisfaction of a good service return slow you down. If you miss the return, it's a free point for the serving side, so it's important to focus on returning the ball consistently.
Bonus: Aim to the middle to avoid missing the shot wide!
